Huawei Digitalization energy demands

Huawei continues to promote digitalization and its benefits amid growing demands for energy resources. The company believes that certain digital measures can help enterprises improve energy efficiency in the market and save massive.

Lifei Liu – the regional director of Huawei Electric Power’s Digitalization Business in Europe and the Middle East says that digital operations can effectively meet the rising energy demands of a region. It can further lead to huge money savings.

Digitalization refers to the accurate usage of digital technologies to modify a business model or ways of working for profit. It offers value-producing opportunities.

The executive recently had an interview with Power Technology. During the talks, the director mentioned that over the past few years, digitalization has become a major part of the global energy industry. Although there’s a need for every enterprise to collaborate with digital tech firms and benefit from digitalization.

Liu says that digital measures contribute to cost reduction, and efficiency improvements, as well as help to meet rising energy demands. He added that several issues can be resolved via advanced digital technologies. For instance:

“Huawei IDS (Intelligent Distribution Solution) can shorten line loss data analysis time from months or days to just 15 minutes. It not only detects the issue but also provides the most optimal solution to solve the problem.”

The executive mentioned that countries using the IDC solution for 10 years have gained $5-$6 billion in savings from line loss reduction. Meanwhile, the solution also decreases the OPEX (operating expenses) by around $700 million per decade.

Apart from money-saving, digitalization leads to long-term sustainability for power systems and builds future-oriented and open technical architecture. The only challenge amid these benefits is the “load side”.

Wrapping up the interrogation, Liu says:

“Communication is the basis for addressing the challenges of future power systems. Medium-voltage backhaul can be implemented through fiber networks, wireless private networks, and wireless public networks.”
