Chinese companies recruiting HarmonyOS developers to launch native apps

Recently, a number of Chinese tech and enterprise companies have started recruiting HarmonyOS developers to start native HarmonyOS software development.

Regarding the recruitment, these companies reportedly saying that Huawei is moving toward native HarmonyOS applications and the current Android source code may not work with future versions of HarmonyOS. Therefore, these firms are preparing to participate in the earliest version of the native app ecosystem.

Chinese shopping platform, Meituan also recruiting 16 HarmonyOS developers for a salary between 30-45k yuan (about 4100-6100 USD). The designated post for this recruitment requires experience in HarmonyOS app development and research projects.

In August, Huawei released the new HarmonyOS NEXT operating system. Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group said that in the near future, HarmonyOS NEXT will replace the current HarmonyOS software. Thereafter, the company will solely support native HarmonyOS applications.

Since its launch in 2020 for mobile devices, HarmonyOS has a dual app support framework including Android and native HarmonyOS.

Over the past three years, Huawei developed a strong collaboration with many Chinese companies and industry partners. These are now helping Huawei to build a new app ecosystem and hiring new HarmonyOS talent in order to grow the number of new applications. The support from the industry allows Huawei to switch from a dual app frame to going solo on the native app platform.
