China criticizes new US export rules targeting Huawei Ascend AI chips

China is criticizing the US export rules following a worldwide ban on the Huawei Ascend AI chips. The Chinese government says that the foreign authorities are unnecessarily attacking a significant firm, ruining the growth of the entire country.
US has recently shared some new guidelines that state any company around the world can’t use Huawei AI chips without a particular license. If it does so, it will breach US regulations and will probably be punished with 20 years of imprisonment.
After these guidelines, China counterattacked the US, saying that the United States is abusing export control rules by disturbing the growth of Huawei Ascend AI chips.
He Yongqian, a spokesperson of the Chinese Commerce Ministry, said on Thursday at a regular press meeting that the country will take significant steps on this matter and defend Chinese companies’ legitimate rights and interests.

The executive further urged the US authorities to correct their practices, as the new regulations are not only affecting the trade order between the two countries but also the stability of the global semiconductor production, supply chain, and international economic aspects.
Yongqian adds that the United States’ chip controls aren’t favorable to the long-term, mutually beneficial, and sustainable cooperation of companies on both sides.
US authorities introduced new rules at a time when Huawei is looking to expand its Ascend AI chip production. The company was in the news, to begin the mass shipment of the 910C chipset by the end of this month.
On the other hand, it was planning to unveil a powerful alternative to Nvidia H20 – 910D in the upcoming months. Although the new sanctions seem to put these plans on halt for some time.
