Apple, Xiaomi and Huawei leads Chinese second hand smartphone market in Q2 2023

Apple, Xiaomi, and Huawei are leading the Chinese second-hand smartphone market for the second quarter of 2023, reveals a report. Zhuanzhuan Group, an official supplier of second-hand services has released a report of the 2023 Second Quarter Mobile Phone Market Report in China. The report shows the Chinese smartphone market trend for Q2 2023.

Data reveals that secondhand 5G phones are doing robust sales in the market. The total transaction volume of 5G phones accounted for 58%, which is a record high and an increase of 15.04% over the year. This is the fourth consecutive quarter that the market is reigning over 50%.

According to the list, Apple is ruling at the top of the list. There are multiple models of the iPhone 14 series dominating the second-hand phone segment. Xiaomi is ranked second, Huawei third, followed by Vivo, OPPO (including OnePlus), and Honor.

Apple:

The top 10 models in the total transaction volume list, search list, and recycling list are all iPhones. Among them, iPhone 11 has dominated the list for 7 consecutive quarters, ranking first in the C2B, B2C, and search lists.

From the perspective of the top 10 models by transaction volume, the top five rankings have not changed, and they are still iPhone11, iPhone12, iPhone13, iPhone XR, and iPhone12 Pro Max.

The rankings of the iPhone13 Pro Max and iPhone Xs Max both increased by one place to fifth and sixth. iPhone14 Pro is on the list for the first time, ranking ninth. Among them, the 5G iPhone began to occupy a dominant position, and the transaction heat continued to rise. From 5 models on the Q1 list to 6 models in Q2, the iPhone 11 Pro Max dropped out of the list.

Among the top 10 mobile phone search volume models, the top three rankings have not changed, overlapping with the top three in the total transaction volume list. The popularity of the iPhone 14 series has risen significantly, and the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have newly entered the list, ranking 8th and 9th respectively. iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone X dropped out of the list.

Huawei and others:

Huawei’s second-hand smartphone sales are showing strong upward momentum. It is the brand with the largest increase in the chain and year-on-year. Vivo ranked third in China with 13.04%. OPPO (including OnePlus) ranked fourth with 10.67%. Although Honor ranked fifth with 7.31% of transaction volume, its month-on-month growth rate was second only to Huawei.

In the top 10 list of second-hand Chinese mobile phone transactions, Huawei has 6 phones on the list, and most of the models on the list in Q1 have risen. and they occupy three seats in the top five. For example, Huawei Mate40 Pro (5G) rose from No. 2 in Q1 to No. 1 in Q2, Huawei Mate 30 Pro (5G) rose from No. 6 in Q1 to No. 2 in Q2, and Huawei P30 rose from No. 5 in Q1 Rising to No. 4 in Q2. Huawei Mate30 (5G) is new to the list, ranking 10th.

Analysts said that Huawei mobiles have always performed well in the high-end market. In the first half of the year, the P60 series sold well and Mate X3 became a wealth management product in the new season. Once again drove the popularity of Huawei’s high-end models. As the few remaining Huawei 5G models on the market, the popularity of Huawei Mate40 Pro is well-deserved.

Among them, the price of Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ picks up against this trend. The average price in the second-hand market at the end of June was 419 yuan higher than that in early April. In addition, the prices of Huawei Mate 40 Pro (5G) and Mi 13 were basically flat in the second quarter. The model with the biggest drop was the Mi 13 Ultra, whose price at the end of June dropped by 568 yuan compared to early April.

Chinese second-hand smartphone market is still on the rise, and Apple, Xiaomi, Huawei, and other players keep on competing even in this segment.
