Apple is finding ways to introduce AI iPhones in China. One such effort is to join hands with those artificial intelligence companies that can meet Chinese regulations. The company now aims to team up with Alibaba and Baidu on this matter.

Bloomberg noted that Apple is planning to launch AI iPhones in China by the middle of this year. The American firm is collaborating with Alibaba and Baidu to meet favorable conditions and step into the Chinese AI smartphone battleground.

Smartphone makers like Huawei, Honor, and Xiaomi are already offering AI-based devices in China. In such a situation, iPhones without smarter capabilities are badly affecting Apple’s sales and customer base in one of its major markets.

Thus, the American tech giant is making a “depending move” to bring its AI devices to China. Many teams in China and the US target the adaptation of Apple Intelligence (Apple’s AI platforms). The process is underway and will likely enable the company to unveil its AI-based iPhones in China by May.

iPhone with AI coming soon!

Apple has mainly associated with Alibaba and Baidu to power its AI iPhones in China. Inputs reveal that Alibaba will reshape and censor the content on Apple’s on-device system to line with Chinese regulations. Baidu will power visual intelligence.

Apple Intelligence consists of three main AI techs: Apple device features, Apple’s internet server features, and OpenAI chatbot based on the firm’s infrastructure. But these types of AI can’t be used in China. Hence, Alibaba will integrate an extra layer to the Apple AI model that can meet the norms in the country.

Simply put, the company will use its own AI models but with certain inputs from Alibaba and Baidu to comply with Chinese laws. However, how many challenges this procedure includes will be known in the time ahead.

On the flip side, China will direct Alibaba to make amendments to Apple’s AI models. This AI model will be compatible with iPhones, iPads, and Macs in China and won’t be eligible with any international variant. Alibaba confirmed the news:

“Apple has been very selective; they want to use our AI to power their phones.”
