Android 16 may let you screen record an external monitor

Android 16 could allow phone users to screen record their external monitor. Yes, that’s true. The company is implementing such a feature to its upcoming software version that will enable users to screen record what’s happening on other displays.
Many smartphones have a built-in screen recorder that lets them capture the ongoing activities on the device’s screen. It is perfect for creating how-to guides or saving an important tutorial, that is unable to save anywhere else on the device.
But have you heard of a smartphone feature that will let you screen record an external display? Google is preparing a feature for Android 16 that can enable users to screen record content of another monitor from their smartphones.
Mishaal Rahman (via Android Authority) found that Android 16 Beta 3 has an option called “Record HDMI Screen” in the phone’s screen recorder dialog box. It will appear on connecting the device to an external monitor.
Record HDMI Screen allowed the Android expert to record the content and activities of the external monitor, separately from the phone’s built-in screen.
The recorded content gets saved similarly to a phone’s screen recording but, the feature has certain limitations. For instance, it won’t work for a third-party app. It also doesn’t work at times of casting the screen. Simply put, only a few apps can benefit from this feature.
