Android 16 QPR1 Beta is out with incredible features but may soon grab more amazing capabilities in the upcoming builds, and one such could be a “flashlight brightness” tool. You may soon be able to control the light intensity of device’s flash.

Google has been preparing this feature for a long while. Even though the company has made significant changes to various sections of Pixel phones with new Android versions, flash brightness remained the most-awaited capability for users.

But it seems Pixel phone holders will soon be able to control the flashlight brightness, with Android 16. Spotted by the Telegram channel Google News, the company is working on a native flash feature called flashlight strength adjustment.

Inputs say that Android has been supporting an API for flash brightness since Android 13. However, Google has kept it exclusive for camera and magnifier apps.

Though things are around to change, as Google may soon integrate a new feature called “Flashlight Strength” slider directly into the Quick Settings tile.

As a result, whenever users turn on the flashlight, the tile will pop up the slider to adjust the light intensity of the flash. The till will also display the current brightness percentage within the flashlight tile.

Users can either tap the right side of a resizable tile or hold the tile to access the feature. Note that the slider is identical to the screen brightness adjuster. After adjustments, one can tap on the “Done” button in the pop-up box.

Google News reveals that the new flashlight strength slider feature will likely show up in the upcoming Android 16 QPR1 beta versions. It is unclear whether the feature will remain exclusive to Pixel devices or reach non-Pixel models too.

Although it’s a significant feature and will enhance the overall device usability for phone holders.
