Android 16 could launch new significant features to enhance external display management. The company is making efforts to make its upcoming OS build a perfect upgrade for every device, including phones, tablets, and desktops or TVs.

Google is readying new external display features for Android 16. This specific step will make Android more compatible with desktop operating systems.

Early Android versions bring some useful external display capabilities. For instance, users can mirror the screen or extend the screen via developer options.

But these features have certain restrictions, like the mouse remains fixed to one screen and can’t run between different displays. Users can’t switch from mirroring to extending the screen. If they want, they have to follow a long procedure.

However, AndroidAuthority managed to find solutions for these problems in the Android 16 Beta 2.1. Mishaal Rahman enabled two functions that ease external display management with Android phones. Firstly, it lets you run the mouse between displays.

It suggests that Android 16 may enable users to move the mouse cursor freely between displays without any limitations. One can use their phone with an external monitor just like a PC.

Mishaal further revealed a ‘mirror built-in display’ toggle to switch between mirroring and extending the screen. Users may eventually be able to adjust the size of text and icons on the external display and control the refresh rate of the screen.

It is unclear if Android 16 will introduce these features via a stable upgrade. Although these features are quite efficient and enhance the external display experience for Android smartphone users.
