Android 16 may bring OxygenOS-inspired ‘tri-split-screen’ mode

Android 16 could take multitasking to new heights for tablet users with a ‘tri-split-screen’ mode. Yes, users may soon experience a split mode that can divide the display interface not in two but three parts for better and more flexible multitasking.
Google is seemingly working on a tri-split-screen mode for tablets and this tool may debut with Android 16. Interestingly, the feature is inspired by OxygenOS.
OnePlus introduced Open Canvas with its first foldable “OnePlus Open“. It’s a multitasking feature that enables users to use multiple apps on the screen together. Here, two apps own 90% of the screen while the third one has a 10% proportion.
In case you want to enlarge the third app, just tap on it. The enlarged window will convert the first part into 10% by slightly shifting it. One can easily swap between apps, drag and drop, or use a four-finger pinch gesture to view all three applications.

Looks like the feature has impressed Google pretty much. Now Android 16 could launch a similar ‘tri-split-screen’ mode for tablets. Mishaal Rahman (via Android Authority) found a code in Android 16 DP2 as ‘flexible split-screen mode’.
Being in the development phase, it didn’t launch three apps at once while testing. Yet, it showed a position for the third application. Perhaps, the tech giant may introduce this amazing feature with the stable Android 16 major upgrade.
Google is also working on a useful split-screen mode for tablets. The feature will likely support a new ratio option for easier and more convenient multitasking.
