Android 16 debut expected for Google I/O 2025 event on May 20

Google has creatively revealed the I/O 2025 grand event dates and sparked speculations for Android 16 debut. The US tech giant is ready to unveil new and innovative offerings for its consumers in the second quarter of this year.
The company opened an interesting game called Prism Shift to crack Google I/O 2025 event dates. One can guide, reflect, and split the light beams to illuminate beacons. After beating the game, users can grab the official date for the event.
It seems some users have found the key to this game lock as Google has now revealed the date for its 2025 developer conference – May 20 and 21. The event will happen at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA, at 10 AM PT.
I/O 2025 event may bring several offerings on board. However, the event primarily sparks predictions for the upcoming operating system – Android 16.
Android 16 is coming?
Android 16 launch has been rumored for June 3, 2025. The company aims to release its upcoming OS version sooner than expected, compared to the Android 15.
Now, Google has unveiled the I/O 2025 event dates, hinting at the Android 16 imminent launch. Perhaps the OEM may announce the major software and a few of its capabilities at its grand annual event on May 20 or 21, 2025.
The Pixel phone maker has a ritual of unveiling new Android versions at its annual developer conference. It provides the first look at the new software features and tweaks.
Android 16 won’t be a new change in this case and will likely follow the same track. The software is currently in the first beta phase and may soon hit the second beta.
WearOS 6, Gemini 2.0, as well as Pixel 9a smartphone, are also expected to debut at this event. A few keynotes and sessions will be a part of this annual conference. It would be worth seeing if the Android 16 rumored launch date shifts from June 3 to May 20.
