Android 16 can introduce a new Battery Health ‘assistance’ feature

Google is working on a new feature called Battery Health “Assistance” that can debut with Android 16 later this year. It will ensure the battery health is maintained and offer a reliable experience. However, there is a catch, at least for this moment!
The company has already unveiled the Battery Health feature for Android phones. It allows users to keep an eye on the overall condition and capacity of their phone’s battery.
It also reveals how old and worn out the battery has become over time due to charging. But now, the company is making this feature more convenient for its users.
Battery Health assistance in Android 16 devices will reduce the battery’s runtime as it ages. Pixel 9a smartphone users can explore this feature in the Settings app. It is enabled by default, and the respective handset owners can’t turn it off.
Pixel 9a Battery Health assistance description says:
“Battery health assistance helps manage long-term battery health and performance. As your battery ages, you may notice slight changes in charging performance and battery capacity. Batteries are consumable parts that age over time and last fewer hours between charges…”

A Catch?
Well the feature is currently exclusive to Pixel devices. Google earlier said that the Battery Health assistance will soon be available to previous devices as an optional feature.
Meanwhile, the latest Settings service 1.1.0.760434021 version shows a few strings for older devices with an on/off toggle. The strings are as follows:
- <string name=”pulsar_main_switch_title”>Use battery health assistance</string>
- <string name=”pulsar_confirmation_dialog_title”>Turn off battery health assistance?</string>
The new feature is not available in Android 16 QPR1 beta builds. Although we can expect to see this useful addition in the upcoming software versions.
