After smartphones, Huawei conquer Chinese wearable market against Apple

Huawei has made a significant comeback in the smartphone segment amid tight sanctions. But this is not the only area the company has conquered. After 5G phones, Huawei has made a big inroad in the Chinese wearable market over Apple.

2024 can be considered a good year for Huawei. The company not only returned to the Chinese market with 5G phones but also surpassed its rivals, like Apple.
While Huawei continued to reach new heights, Apple faced a harsh sales decline. A Counterpoint report revealed that the Chinese firm’s market share surged from 20 to 29% in 2024 with sales growth of 37% year-on-year.
Although the iPhone maker sank in the 2024 Chinese smartphone race by 54%. Even though Huawei remained at second, it gave a tough spot to its American rival.
Smartwatch Segment
Looks like after the smartphone section, Huawei is conquering the Chinese wearable market against Apple. The company has scored the top spot in the smartwatch category on its home turf, overtaking Apple, Xiaomi, Honor, and others.
RUNTO Technology shared a report on 2024 Smart Wristwear Devices in China. It reveals that Huawei has ranked first in the Chinese wearable race, while Apple follows at the second place. The former’s smartwatch sales jumped by 24.3% YoY, and the latter dipped by 24.6% year-on-year.

The market research firm revealed that Huawei is striving to integrate new technologies, AI features, and innovation in its wrist gadgets. These major implementations to a device make a brand stand on the top in the consumer market.
Watch GT 5 and Watch D2 are the latest examples in this case. Both devices run on Huawei’s self-developed TruSense system. The new health-based technology offers precise health data based on exercises and assessments.
Moreover, its upgraded sensors and reliable health monitoring features provide faster health reports. It revolves around accuracy, convenience, and comprehensiveness.
Apart from the internal segment, Huawei has focused on the wearable’s design. The new-gen Watch D2 features a mesmerizing look over a dull rectangular body. It has more beautiful straps and a stylish crown that binds your attention.
Coming to the report, Huawei grabbed 31.9% of the Chinese wearable market share in 2024 – the highest. Apple, at the second position, earned 20.6% of the market share. Xiaomi, Honor, and vivo followed in the same order with positive growth.
Huawei is now working on the Watch Fit 4 and Watch 5 series. The first lineup is bringing the Pro variant this time, whereas the second one is said to be the most beautiful wearable. How the new-gen smartwatches will take over Huawei’s rival in the wearable race would be worth looking at!
