After Pura X smartphone, Huawei preparing PCs with new form factor

Richard Yu – Huawei Executive Director, Chairman of Consumer BG, and Smart Automotive Solutions BU suggested that the upcoming PCs will show a new form factor. After the Pura X phone, the company may give a new look to its notebooks.

Huawei’s executive has recently attended a live broadcast on the CCTV Weibo page. During the interrogation, he responded to Pura X’s ‘high-price’ dispute and some other topics. The official also shared details on future HarmonyOS PCs.

Yu said that HarmonyOS PCs will adopt surprising upgrades over traditional PCs. The new MateBook products can feature impressive designs beyond users’ imagination.

An early leak mentioned that the first PC to install HarmonyOS would feature a new form factor, bearing the word ‘Ultra’. This notebook could go live in Q2 2025.

New form factors

The company has started embracing new form factors for its devices. Pura X is the latest example with a 16:10 wide and 6.3-inch small-sized screen. It looks like a fusion of both flip-flop and book-type foldable, perfect for readers and movie watchers.

Pura X also runs on the stable HarmonyOS NEXT – 5.0.1 version. It installs various AI features – thanks to Harmony Intelligence and DeepSeek-powered Celia assistant.

Now Huawei can introduce a new form factor for its upcoming HarmonyOS PCs. As per Richard Yu, the changes could be greater than a lightweight feel or a thin look. It will likely be different from the existing Windows notebooks.

The company unveiled a MateBook D 16 Linux Edition a few weeks ago, hinting that it is ditching Windows. After Linux, the next PC could come with HarmonyOS.

Other details of the new PC are unclear. Though it will be a package of some unexpected technologies and capabilities. It may also debut with Pangu AI + DeepSeek model, just like the Pura X foldable smartphone.
