A Swedish court bans Huawei 5G equipment, Huawei say ‘decision made on assumptions’

On June 22, 2021, A Swedish court put a ban on Huawei, blocking the company to sell of 5G network equipment in Sweden. Reacting to this, Huawei officials stated, Huawei respects the judgment of the legislation but we don’t agree with it.

Huawei will fight its way to bring our rights back. Also, this decision made by the Swedish legistlation is not final and Huawei will further analyze it to protect our concerns and preferences.

The executives further explained that cybersecurity always the highly concerning aspect of Huawei. That’s why we’ll seek help from the related Swedish authorities to varify the cybersecurity measures based on factual standards.

Last October, Swedish telecom regulator PTS unexpectedly banned Huawei supplying 5G equipment to Swedish mobile firms due to security concerns raised by Sweden’s security service SAPO, which was later challenged by Huawei in the court.

“Sweden’s security is of heavy importance and the administrative court has taken into account that only the Security Police and the armed forces together have an overall picture regarding the security situation and the threat to Sweden,” the court said in a statement.

Huawei’s response

“It’s not unexpected based on the fact that the court is also leading their conclusions on basically the assumptions being made by SAPO,” Kenneth Fredriksen, Huawei’s Executive Vice President, Central East Europe and Nordic Region told Reuters

To be mentioned, Ericsson has stated before that it might be expected that the company shares can drop in Mainland 5G market. Furthermore, the Ericsson spokesperson commented, this time the court’s decision may bring an unfavorable impact on the Swedish market including Ericsson.

Previously it was reported that the Swedish government in preventing the Chinese firms Huawei and ZTE to implant the 5G infrastructure for security concerns. The Swedish Postal and Telecommunications Administration (PTS) instructed the companies to change the 5G equipment of Huawei and ZTE by 2025.
