2nd Huawei triple foldable phone may have a chipset surprise
The 2nd Huawei triple foldable is edging closer to its launch, as it has now been certified for a 5G network database with a new chipset and satellite features. The company has seemingly begun the pre-launch testing of its unique foldable handset.
Huawei is readying its 2nd tri-foldable smartphone. The handset is expected to debut in September, competing with flagship models like the iPhone 17 series and Samsung’s first triple-folding device.
In the current scenario, Huawei has reportedly certified its 2nd triple foldable with new satellite features and an improved chipset. The company has listed the device with the GRL-AL20 model number.
Looking at the network listing, the upcoming tri-foldable will support 5G compatibility. It will also bring Tiantong satellite communication features for reliable connectivity with contacts, even in areas with weak or no network.
For comparison, the Mate XT also supports Tiantong satellite calling. It uses an optimized antenna design that smartly detects environmental changes and ensures to deliver a better communication experience at every place.
Although the device can only run satellite features stably when it is unfolded completely. Perhaps, Huawei may eliminate this situation and let you initiate satellite calls with the device even in the folding state.

Speaking of the chipset surprise, a few tipsters claim to see a Kirin 9020 5G chipset inside the 2nd-gen Huawei triple foldable. However, Huawei hasn’t confirmed anything on this subject. Hence, we have to wait for the official details.
Kirin 9020 debuted with the Mate 70 series. It also powers up the Pura 80 series with probably a new design and improved cores. If not this chip, the company might use the standard Pura 80’s processor – Kirin 9020s for its next-gen tri-fold.
Tipster DigitalChatStation adds that the new device will bring major camera upgrades. It will likely feature a 50MP new main lens with variable aperture and periscope telephoto. Other changes, like battery and display, are currently unknown. Though we may soon get details on these parameters.
