Huawei Rotating Chairman – Meng Wanzhou delivered a New Year’s speech saying that 2024 has been a significant year for native HarmonyOS. She also expressed her opinions on the company’s growth this year and plans for the coming 2025.

The speech entitled “You and I are all stars on the road ahead” initially expressed gratitude to customers, partners, employees, and their families for constant support.

Meng said that over the past six years, the company has gone through several hard times. But consumers and employees always showed faith and trust in Huawei.

She further said that 2024 has been a crucial year for Huawei, especially for the native HarmonyOS. The company’s “Thousand Sails Plan” obtained a lot of consumers attention. Many industrial partners also joined this scheme to promote new growth.

Thousand Sails Plan was a program that called out industrial partners to connect with the HarmonyOS ecosystem and benefit from advanced services.

The executive mentioned that HarmonyOS NEXT has achieved unexpected growth in one year of development. While other operating systems take 10 years to gain success in the market, HarmonyOS NEXT obtained that growth in a few months.

“In just one year, we have gone through more than ten years of the development path of other operating systems and created the – HarmonyOS Speed.” – Meng Wanzhou.

Yu Chengdong – the Chairman of Huawei Consumer Business also said at the HDC 2024 event that Huawei completed 30 years of US journey for AI and OS progress in just 10 years. Perhaps, it won’t take much time to become completely independent.

Meng described that the company is constantly pacing up with AI as well as innovation trends. A special achievement in this case is the 5G new calls service.

“5G New Calls is the first choice for Chinese operators. Depending on the world’s largest and most technologically advanced 5G/5G-A network, operators have added ultra-clear, intelligent, and interactive capabilities to traditional voice calls, bringing a novel call experience to more users.”
