2018’s well-known Huawei Nova 3 and Nova 3i smartphones are now receiving a brand new update in May 2023. This is a surprising upgrade for these smartphones and comes with numerous improvements and optimizations.

However, you should know that this HarmonyOS 2.0.0.263 update is released only for the Chinese models running HarmonyOS 2 operating system. Even after five years of release, Huawei keeps on sending new improvements for this smartphone series. But it would have been more interesting to see this rollout for EMUI global devices.

Huawei Nova 3 and Nova 3i May 2023 update changelog:

Safety:

  • Improve system security protection capabilities

System:

  • Optimize system stability in some situations

Application:

  • Remove the original preset Link Now application, if you have updated the application, will not remove.

There are a few things that you should know before upgrading to the latest version.

Make sure your Nova 3i or Nova 3 is not rooted. Otherwise, it won’t receive a new build version. Also, you will require to download the base HarmonyOS version in order to receive a new software update.

The latest rollout comes in batches and may take some to reach all of the users. Also, this new upgrade won’t erase your phone’s data but we suggest you to backup important files to prevent unwanted file loss. You can use the cloud or your PC to backup files.

After installing the latest software update, your phone will perform self-optimizations. Therefore, you may experience heat, fast power consumption, slow charging, and lagging in some scenarios. However, the phone will return to normal within a few days.

Once installed, Huawei Nova 3 series devices will restart to settle the phone. It will take some to unpack the OTA update.
