2018′ Huawei MediaPad M5 update brings Petal Search, Maps and more [Global]

Huawei is rolling out new firmware for lots of its old devices, in the past, we’ve seen the company seeding Petal Search, Maps, a number of new apps carried on new OTA update rollouts. Adding to this, 2018’s Huawei MediaPad M5 is now receiving a new software update that brings June 2021 security update along with the installation of the above new mobile applications from the Chinese tech maker.

Before we proceed to the update details, we want to mention that the Huawei MediaPad M5 series is eligible for HarmonyOS 2.0 operating system upgrade. While its beta testing is currently underway in China.

According to the changelog, the Huawei MediaPad M5 software brings EMUI 9.1.0.360. The package consists of a set of new applications that will enhance the user experience. Therefore, the MediaPad M5 consumers will see a new Huawei Apps folder on the home screen.

Additionally, the update will add new apps such as Petal Search, Book, Petal maps, Game Center member Center, Browser, Link Now, and Celia Keyboard. Users only need to tap on the corresponding icon to download these apps accordingly.

Launched in 2018, the Huawei MediaPad M5 tablet comes in two sizes – 10.8 and 8.4 inches with 2K ultra vision and 2.5d glass edge display. The tablet is powered by the Kirin 960 Octa processor and supports the front and rear camera system.

How to update:

For your information, the latest Huawei MediaPad M5 firmware is rolling out gradually and you can download the update via the following instructions. Go to System Settings, click on System, then Software update, check for updates, and download and install Restart this tablet. On the other hand, you can check the update via support or My Huawei apps.
